Packing the car early in the morning while it was still dark with mamma ‘helping’; we had no extra passengers but we had a couple of kilos of food provided by Mamma Italia, among the food her delicious homemade foccacia. Besides all the food this would also be the first trip Berbie would venture on…our special guest who was created during out stay in Lecce.
The day consisted for the most part of driving along the Adriatic Coast with some stops at Autogrill. Most stops were regular stops but Chiara had been craving milk for days so she went crazy when she saw a fresh milk vending machine. Of course this had to be tried out…but how we were supposed to know you have to get a bottle first from the other vending machine which was right next to the milk machine… So, we put some coins in, excited to get fresh milk out of a machine but then the milk started running and we panicked wondering what we had to do. We just let run and then realized that we should have gotten a bottle from the other machine we only saw then. When we finally had the milk we discovered it was really good.
After some traffic we finally arrived in Civitanova, the most ‘beautiful’ city of the east coast of Italy…huhuhuh. In contrast to the town, the camp site was really beautiful up on a hill it deserved its name Belvedere. Of course it being Berbie’s first time camping she demanded every inch of the big air mattress to be hers.
After having set up the tent and put the striscione we ventured into town and had a look at the not so impressive stadium of Civitanova where the concert would be. We walked around a bit and drove around and also went to Civitanova Alta which was a very big contrast to the other Civitanova and really beautiful. After a while we decided to head back to the camp site to change and then go to dinner. As we couldn’t drive the car onto the site after midnight we decided to walk as the guy of the camp site told us it would take about ten minutes. Of course you should never believe an Italian if they tell you that because it took us more than half an hour. Besides that the walk took us along dusty and deserted roads. When a car drove by we couldn’t see each other anymore due to all the dust… We finally did manage to find the center with TomTom in our hands and had a very posh aperitive before heading for pizza and beer with Berbie. At the pizzeria we met some people we know and we watched some stupid typical Italian TV show with lots of half-naked women.
After having a hilarious time with Berbie at the pizzeria we tried to call a taxi, unfortunately the numbers the guy from the camp site gave us were wrong but drunk as we were we did remember that there were taxi spaces at the station so we walked there. Of course Chiara slipped of the boardwalk on the way and when we arrived at the station we found there were no taxis but there was a number that did work.
